Lieutenant Ellen Ripley (b. January 7th 2092 - 2179/cl.2379) was a cargo hauler who had a chance encounter with a deadly species that would change her life and be intertwined with her for several decades. She would later have several more encounters with the creatures and would eventually give her life to put an end to the Xenomorph menace.

Early History Edit

Ellen Ripley was born on January 7th 2092 at the Olympia colony on Luna. She had one daughter, Amanda Ripley-McClaren (b. June 24th 2111 – d. December 23rd 2177). In 2122, she was hired as Warrant Officer for the Weyland-Yutani commercial hauler USCSS Nostromo.

Awakening & Distress Call Edit

Ellen Ripley was one of seven crew members of the Nostromo in 2122. The crew awoke thinking they were done with their cargo haul duty but found out they were awoken to investigate a distress signal coming from the moon LV-426. An away team consisting of Captain Dallas, Executive Officer Kane, and Navigator Lambert went to investigate the signal. They found  The Derelict ship emulating the signal. Ripley stayed on the shuttle to oversee the repairs while the away team investigated the signal.

Kane and his "Guest"Edit

Captian Dallas,Executive Officer Kane, and Navigator Lambert set out to investigate the signal with Ash observing the ground team's status.

The Nostromo's Destruction Edit

Following the deaths of Brett, Captain Dallas, and Ash (who was revealed to be an android after he attempted to kill Ripley), Ripley, Parker, and Lambert decided to escape to the escape shuttle after activating the Nostromo's self destruct device. However, Parker and Lambert were killed by the Alien while gathering supplies. Ripley then has a short face-off with the creature, and prepares to evacuate the Nostromo.

Ripley escaped the Nostromo, and managed to watch the ship explode, thinking the Alien was dead. As Ripley prepared for Hypersleep, she got a nasty surprise when the creature revealed itself hiding in one of the walls. Ripley panicked and scrambled to the spacesuit closet. Catching her breath and composure she realized the creature hadn't discovered her yet. She quietly slipped on a spacesuit and slowly made her way to a control console, and strapped herself in.

She then started the process to open the hatch; unfortunitely, the process to open the hatch gave off steam and the creature got a jet of steam on it agitating it and setting it's focus on Ripley. By the time the creature was in striking distance of her the hatch opened to the vaccum of space. All the loose objects and the creature were sucked out, but the creature got a grip right on the edge of the craft. Thinking fast, Ripley grabbed a harpoon gun and shot the creature in the abdomen. Shocked the creature lost it's hold and was getting sucked out into the void of space. As the gun was heading to the hatch, it closed on the cable, keeping the creature on by a strand. The alien then tried to get back in via the engine but Ripley hit the ignition and the creature was blown into space. After she gave her final report on the status of the ship, cargo, and crew Ripley signed off and entered hypersleep.

Return to LV-426 Edit

The crew of the Tripast Salvage recovered the Narcissus in 2179 and Ripley was transported to Gateway Station, where she remained for several months as a powerloader operator and cargo worker. During her stay at Gateway Station, Ellen Ripley was shown a photograph of her adult daughter by Carter Burke. Ripley was later persuaded to accompany a team of USCMC marines back to Acheron LV-426.

Ripley was one of two civilian advisors to the mission, the other being Burke for the interests of the company. Ripley gave a debriefing on her prior experiences with the creatures. Although, a few marines joked about the "bug hunt"; thier Seargent quickly put them in their places. Ripley would also use her skills with a powerloader to help out the marines on moving supplies.

During one of the meals, she discovered that the executive officer was an Android. After her near death experience with Ash, Ripley went on the offensive at Bishop telling him to stay away from her. Burke told Bishop that Ash "malfunctioned and there were a couple of deaths." The investigation team prepped and supplied before heading planetside.

Investigation & EncounterEdit

After the APC was dropped and the Marines went on patrol through one of the buildings and found it to be empty but also discovered signs of battle in the complex. After the building was cleared Ripley, Burke and Lt.Gorman entered the building. As soon as the advisors and the officer entered the complex, a signal was picked up on a motion tracker. A group of marines then investigated the signal, a figure jumped out and scurried towards one of the vents. The marines were suprised to find that it was a young girl, one of the marines reached for her and got his hand bit by her. Ripley then chased after the girl into the vents and managed to corner her and talk the girl in coming back with her to the marines. As one of the marines treated the girl, Ripley asked her questions regarding the other colonists, her parents, and her brother. The Girl replied that they were all dead, which Ripley understood all to well.

Fight & FlightEdit

Crashing on  Fiorina 161 & DeathEdit

The operation was unsuccessful and in 2179 Ellen Ripley was stranded on Fiorina 161. Her cryo chamber was ejected from the USS Sulaco after a Facehugger caused an electrical fire on board. Her cryo chambers were put in an EEV and crash landed on the prison colony. Unfortunatly, Hicks died from being impaled by debris in the EEV due to the impact, Newt drowned in her cryo chamber and Bishop was damaged even more and placed in a scrap pile by the prisoners. Their loss greatly affected Ripley as she tried to figured out what killed her companions.

Ripley had the prison doctor Jonathan Clemens, perform an autopsy on Newt under the cover she had Ripley still suspected an alien was planet side when prisoners died mysterious and violent deaths. She later recovered Bishop's remains and reactivated him. He confirmed Ripley's fears and suspicions that a creature was involved in their crash. Bishop asked to be terminated and Ripley obliged her companion on his request and deactivated him.

After Clemens, and the warden Harold Andrews were killed; the prisoners started looking to Ripley for ideas on how to kill the beast. One plan involved using some of the toxic waste in the facility and trapping the beast in the waste storage unit. Unfortunately, the creature struck and caused a large explosion that killed several prisoners. Ripley then started to feel sick and had shortness of breath, she thought it was a side affect from abruptly waking from hypersleep. She then had Francis Aaron help her run a scan in the EEV and she then discovered she had been impregnated and with a queen. She then asked the leader of the prisoners, Leonard Dillon; to kill her and the creature inside of her. He refused, stating that she had to help the remaining prisoners destroy the one rampaging through the prison then he would kill her.

The new plan involved trapping the creature in the prison's lead works and drowning the creature with molten lead. The catch was that everyone was going to use them selves to bait the creature there. After most of the prisoners are killed with only Ripley, Dillon, Robert Morse, and Aaron left. The creature was trapped in the mold with Ripley and Dillon, Ripley then volunteered to stay behind to distract the creature. But as Dillon climbed the mold, the creature followed him; he then stayed behind to hold the creature off until the lead was dumped into the mold. Ripley reminded Dillon of his promise, he told her "God will save you now sister!". The creature charged Dillon, even with his large build, Dillon was no match for the creature and was killed. After climbing out of the mold Ripley then yelled to Morse to pour the lead, he did and it looked like the creature drowned or was destroyed by the high temperatures. But then the creature errupted from the lead in agony, proceeding to set its sights on Ripley. Morse then yelled to her to douse the creature with the sprinklers she jumped on to the chain that would start the sprinklers. The quick temperature change caused the creatures carapice to crack and the alien exploded from the temperature change.

She then had one task to do and that was eliminate the alien queen growing inside her. As she put her plan into motion with the help of Morse; the company then arrived to get Ripley and she saw a familiar face amongst the company reps. A man by the name of Michael Bishop (Bishop II), who designed the Bishop model on the Sulaco came to give her a "friendly face." He told Ripley how he came to get the creature inside of her and that they planned to destroy it and Ripley can carry on with her life. As tempting as the offer was, she had enough dealings with the company to see through the facade. Aaron assaulted Bishop with a wrench; nearly taking off the man's left ear. Aaron was pulled away by a company solider shot and killed for attacking Bishop. Bishop reasserted that he wasn't a droid. Ripley then declined his offer and Morse was shot in the leg in an attempt to stop Ripley from destroying the creature. Bishop then let the lie go stating he "must have it" and told Ripley "think of all we could learn from it!" that didn't stop her. She than allowed her self to free fall in to the molten lead in the foundry. The queen then erupted through Ripley's chest; but she still had enough strength to hold the creature close to her as they were incinerated by the molten metal.

Life After Death Edit

Following the events on Fiorina 161, a sample of Ripley's DNA was recovered from the facility. Two hundred years and seven unsuccessful attempts it took to clone Ellen Ripley on the medical vessel USM Auriga. The eighth clone (dubbed Ripley 8) produced was a mixture of Xenomorph and Human genetic material, providing it with certain superhuman abilities and a peculiar attachment to the Xenomorph species. Following the events on the Auriga Ripley 8 and the synthetic auton Call returned to Earth

In Popular Media Edit

A cybernetic "clone" of Ripley appears in the novels Aliens: Nightmare Asylum, and Aliens: The Female War.

Although not consider canonical to the main series of Alien it serves as an important spin-off that adds a twist to the plot over all.
